A crucial meeting is to take place next week to consider the future of Uplyme and Lyme Regis Cricket Club which has been running for almost one hundred and forty years.

All those interested in playing for the club or assisting in any way with its administration next season is asked to attend the meeting which is being held at the clubhouse in Uplyme on Thursday (October 21) at 7.00pm.

A statement issued by the club recently stated, “The future of the club is in jeopardy with player shortage and major roles to be filled.”

“This is a must attend meeting to see if the club can continue its one hundred and thirty-eight-year-old history. It is that important.”

“Everyone associated with the club is urged to attend to discuss the way forward.”

The club has been playing league cricket on Saturdays with occasional Sunday friendly matches and has also been involved in two local T20 knock-out competitions.

This summer, the team finished in a comfortable mid-table position in the Devon Cricket League Division C East, won the East Devon T20 Bash and reached the finals day of the Devon Cricket League’s Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup.
