Budleigh Salterton came from two goals behind to take a point in their Devon League visit to Bere Alstone United.
They got away to the worst possible start, conceding after only six minutes when a misunderstanding at the back led to a Budleigh defender heading past his own goalkeeper.
Worse was to follow soon afterwards as a corner kick was not effectively cleared and Harry Eaton fired the ball in from twenty yards.
Charlie Skinner made it 2-1 minutes before the break when a free kick into the area caused problems in the home defence and, after a re-set at half time, Budleigh were level three minutes into the second period when Skinner finished off a cross from Morgan Pearce.
Budleigh’s Man of the Match Award went to Jack England.
Beer Albion had a great chance to go in front early on at Plymstock United but Taylor Rooke’s effort beat the goalkeeper only to shave the outside of the post.
The Fishermen’s defence was then caught cold as Jake Hawson went through to score and the home side’s advantage remained intact until the break.
Beer’s improved second half showing was quickly rewarded when an Aaron Daniels strike levelled the scores at 1-1.
Plymstock’s second goal came from a penalty. A home forward was upended by Beer goalkeeper Max Haywood as he went through on goal and Matt Goodwin made it 2-1 from the spot.
Ollie Binion’s second long range strike in consecutive games made it 2-2 but Beer could not see the game out and a further goal from Goodwin gave Plymstock the points.
Failing to take early chances proved costly for Ottery St. Mary who went down by the only goal of the game at Thorverton.
They were wasteful with crosses and in front of goal and paid the penalty when Thorverton scored from a free kick against the run of play before the break.
It was much the same story in the second half with the home side defending strongly when needed and always looking dangerous on the break.
The Otters Man of the Match award went to seventeen- year-old Cholwe Hachipuka for his mature performance in midfield.
Ottery manager Rikki Pitter told the Herald, “We were disappointed with the result and it was only the second time this season we have failed to score.”
This Saturday (October 26th) Beer Albion and Budleigh Salterton are at home to Newtown and Thorverton respectively while Ottery St. Mary will look to complete the double at the University of Exeter. All games kick off at 3.00 p.m.
