The annual friendly match between the Captain's Team and the Vice Captain's Team ended in a thrilling victory for the Captain's side.
Captain Richard Gibbons and Vice Captain Mike Chadwick drew their teams from all the Seniors playing on the day.
The match was very close, with Richard's team winning by just 1 point.
Before the last few players finished, Richard was nervous, trailing by 20 points.
However, Ian Carvell, who had the best score of the day with an impressive 42 points, helped turn the tide.
Conversely, Mike had late entrant Dave Bruce on his team, who recorded the worst score of the day with only 17 points.
This resulted in a big swing of 25 points in Richard’s favour at the end.
Richard was so pleased with the outcome that he rewarded his team with a bottle of wine each.
In a light-hearted moment, Dave offered to buy Mike a large whisky.
Fixtures Secretary Leighton Morgan expressed his delight with the Seniors' performance in friendly matches against other clubs from Devon, Somerset, and Dorset during 2024.
Of the 19 planned matches, the Seniors won 8, lost 6, and had 5 cancelled due to adverse weather.
Out of the individual games played, they won 50, lost 33, and drew 2.
Leighton thanked all participants and those who maintained the course and provided excellent meals after matches.
He encouraged more Seniors to get involved next year, highlighting that it offers "excellent value" for just the cost of a meal, around £15.
