Beer Albion have been knocked out of the Devon League Cup competition at the first hurdle.
Albion, who are current holders of the trophy, were beaten 3-2 in this season’s opening round by Bere Alston United who are at the foot of the table without a league win all season.
In an even game that went from end to end, Beer went in front twice with goals from Aaron Daniels and Billy Knox but the visitors drew level before hitting a winner.
Elsewhere in the Devon Football League, Budleigh Salterton lost 3-1 at Alphington who maintained their position at the top of the table.
During the first half Budleigh played some of their best football of the season and they led 1-0 at the break after Morgan Pearce had provided the assist for Cubby Tinsley.
But Alphington hit back strongly in the second half with three goals and the three points they gained opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table.
