The annual Open Invitational at Axe Cliff welcomed players from across the South West.
The event, held last Friday, was organised by Axe Cliff Golf Club and allowed home members to pair up with players from other clubs.
The day saw over 50 people participating, coming from Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
The Club Captain, Richard Gibbons enthused over the event, acknowledging the fine weather and perfect course conditions that contributed to some outstanding scoring.
The committee was recognised for their hard work that ensured everybody enjoyed the day and many took home quality prizes.
The top team on the day was home player Nigel Pritchard, paired with guest player Brian Hoare of Lyme Regis Golf Club.
They managed a combined Stableford score of 68 points.
Tony Strong and Norman Crees of West Wilts followed closely with a score of 67 points.
The third place was secured by Leighton Morgan, of the Valleys, and his guest Nigel Garwood of Honiton.
Stephen Thompson of Woodbury clinched the title of best individual away player.
Even though he is well familiar with the Axe Cliff course, he scored an impressive 31 points.
Malcolm Hughes of Tiverton, who was the guest of his father Geoff Hughes, secured the second spot with 30 points.
The third place went to Michael Ebdon of Lyme Regis, scoring 29 points.
Among the home players, Paul Curtin emerged as the champion with a score of 37 points, followed by Jason Green at 35 points and Phil Clarke at 34 points.
Captain Richard gave his heartfelt thanks to all the participants and the green staff who kept the course in top condition and assisted in organising the day.
He praised top chef Tracey Pinkney who produced a variety of meals after the game, enjoyed by many.
