Axminster Town Cricket Club's last game of the season resulted in a thrilling victory that shot them to second position in the Division.
On approaching the match against Thorverton, a 19-point win and Budleigh Salterton's victory over Exmouth were needed for this outcome.
The toss was lost and Captain Owen Enticott's team was put into the field.
Starting off were Brad Conway and Wayne Jenkins.
Their strong start restricted Thorverton to merely 27-1 in the first 10 overs.
Attaining 4-21 and 1-22 respectively, Wayne's final over culminated in a dazzling catch of 3 wickets.
With the absence of Alfie Wraight due to injury, James Herbert and Owen Enticott played the middle overs superbly; Owen finished with 2-24.
The closing out of the innings came down to Catherine Webb and Arron Conway, with scores of 1-19 and 2-18, bowling out the hosts for a total of 138.
The chase was a cautious one, with lost wickets potentially threatening their position.
Owen and Brad launched into an impressive opening, amassing a commendable 79 before Owen was caught out.
Andrew Guppy redeeming himself from a duck run in the preceding week, helped secure the required runs along with Brad's commendable 57no and Andy's 37no.
Securing 20 points in the bag, the team nervously awaited the news of Budleigh Salterton's win over Exmouth which confirmed Axminster's run as runners-up in the Division.
Prospects of promotion into the G East Division for the next season now hangs in balance.
