Honiton's cricket team has claimed a crushing 156-run victory over Sidmouth at Mountbatten Park, despite the persisting rain.
Sidmouth took to the field first after winning the toss, but couldn't stop Honiton's Canniford from making his mark with 12 well-played boundaries contributing to his total of 62.
Canniford's initial struggle made way for a thrilling performance, but Haysom and Hext at the other end saw less success, managing to score only 14 and 5 runs, respectively.
That was when Conway entered, with Hext's fall laying the ground for a game-changing 141-run partnership.
The vital innings stabilisation led both Canniford and Conway to notable scores of 62 and an impressive 85 off 79 balls.
Holmes and Blackwell took the helm with 9 overs to go.
The pair continued the team's upward momentum, making a swift 35 runs from 24 before Rattenbury bowled out Holmes.
The final sprint was left to Hooper and Blackwell.
The pair edged up their score with sharp running between the wickets, securing a 50-run partnership and setting Sidmouth a tough target of 290 to beat.
Following Honiton's departure from the pitch, Holmes and Lapping put Sidmouth's openers under the cosh, Holmes dismissing Hambly for a meagre 2.
Nevertheless, Raichura and Brock brought a ray of hope for Sidmouth as momentum seemed to be swaying towards them.
However, Blackwell and Ostler quashed that hope swiftly.
Ostler bowled Brock off for 30, while Blackwell ended the day with a career-best, taking six wickets for just 22 runs in 7 overs.
Sidmouth's chances of achieving a thrilling comeback gradually slipped away, as they were bowled out in 12 overs with a 156-run shortfall.
The victory symbolises a triumphant day for the Honiton team, as they push forward in a weather-beaten season of cricket.
