SEATON 195-5 (20pts) beat UPLYME & LYME REGIS 191 (6pts) by 5 wickets.
Uplyme’s makeshift side, including a number of players called out of retirement, put in a highly creditable showing and made Seaton fight hard for maximum points.
Taking first strike, the visitors were given a solid start by openers Preston Hilless and Jerry Simms.
Hilless then took every opportunity to go after the Seaton bowling attack smashing 54 of his 66 runs in boundaries at a better pace than a run a ball.
Middle order solidity was provided by skipper Sam Farrow, who was out two short of his half century, and Alfie Jaques (21). After that the tail was dismissed cheaply but Uplyme was still able to secure four batting points as they fell just short of 200.
James Doulton proved to be the most successful of the home side’s bowlers finishing with figures of three for 28 from his six overs.
The mainstay of the Seaton reply was Tristan Wakeley who had made 62 before he was run out.
He was well supported by Archie Trott (23) and Jack Dormer (36) as the home side reached the target total with several overs to spare.
There was a very economical bowling spell from Uplyme’s Gareth Stoneman, only 21 runs from his nine overs, and Simms did well to snare three victims during his eight overs.
Uplyme play their last home league match of the season on Saturday when Exmouth II are the visitors to the King George V Playing Field.
