A century knock from Joe Elsworth and a sterling all-round show by Preston Hilless fuelled Uplyme & Lyme Regis' five-wicket triumph against promotion hopefuls Alphington & Countess Wear in the Devon League C Division East.
Elsworth, demonstrating an ongoing solid form, scored 106 with Hilless netting a half-century following a four-wicket haul.
Alphington, playing at home, initially struggled at 94-5 but managed to cross the 200 mark, largely due to Toby Jones (50), Jack Mills (46), and Tynan Hill (40).
Uplyme's adaptive bowling, including regular wicket-keeper Alfie Jacques, effectively constrained their opponents, with Hilless being a standout, taking four wickets for 36 runs in eight overs.
Despite an early setback in their innings, Uplyme bounced back as Hilless (59) and Elsworth formed a significant partnership of over a hundred runs.
Elsworth capitalised on any lapse in the home side's defence - particularly from Will Ruddell - hitting eight fours and six sixes for a commanding display of power hitting.
Contributions from Daniel Magee (21) and Sam Farrow (25 not out) helped Uplyme surpass the target comfortably, with wickets to spare and several overs left.
In their upcoming fixtures, Uplyme is set to host Ottery St. Mary in the next phase of the Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup and will welcome Sidmouth II on Saturday, with play starting at 1pm.
