One of Axe Cliff Golf Club's long term aims is to re-surface and improve its car park, but it will be costly and only affordable once it substantially improves membership numbers.
Now the club are getting closer to 200 but the target is between 300 and 350.
However, rather than wait for that to happen, the players have recently got together to get rid of the many potholes that we had with ready made tarmac and human labour.
Over 20 volunteers, young and older, turned up to the small staff.
A lot of clearance around the clubhouse of overgrown shrubbery was also undertaken, and more improvements will continue to be made.
It's been wonderful to have lovely dry weather which has brought many to bring out their shorts for games.
The Seniors were able to hold their annual Brian Abbott Shield Foursomes competition, and hot favourites of Tony Strong and John Purdy were just able to come out on top beating the strong pairing of Nigel Pritchard and Stuart Mackie on countback, both with 35 points.
Captain Richard Gibbons and 'Masher' Paul Curtin pushed them all the way, taking third spot with 34 points.
Richard also led his team to win a home match with Fingle Glen making it a great start for the year.
The Mens Section were also able to hold the popular annual Centenary Niblick a few weeks ago with some good results.
Robert Ballard is the new holder with a score of 64, some six shots below par.
Jason Green and Tom Spencer took 2nd and 3rd respectively, only separated on countback with their 68's.
Last Saturday's Roll Up played in 20 degrees was greatly enjoyed, but will this weather hold?
Robert Ballard obviously enjoys the sun and won with 39 points, leaving Jason Green and Tom Spencer closely behind taking 2nd and 3rd spot respectively with 38 points apiece.
