Against expectations at Honiton Golf Club, following sterling work by the greens staff (plus a strong drying wind the day before), the Tuesday Mixed competition this week was able to take place, writes Dave Carnall.
It was the monthly drawn Greensomes Stableford, played over 14 holes by 20 competitors. Whilst the course was in excellent shape considering the huge amounts of rainfall lately, conditions were such that the scoring was relatively modest.
This month's winners of the Centenary Goblets were Lesley Oxenham and Joe Hull with 34 points. In second place were Vera Richardson and Harry Lawrence on 30 points with Wendi Abraham and Paul Ritchie third with 28 points.
The winners hold the Goblets - which were donated to the club in 1996 by Ben and Vera Chivers specifically for the monthly competition. Well played to everyone in tricky conditions and lots of mud balls.
