Despite the awful weather, we are very fortunate at Axe Cliff Golf Club, as our Course has always drained well, writes Dave Bruce.
The weekly Masher's Roll Up was won by in-form retired Postie Paul Clode with a very good 40 points. He was four points clear of Mike Chadwick in second place, with young Jimmy Matthews taking third spot with his 35.
Friday saw some great golf with the Seniors battling in their joint Winter Eclectic and Winter League, especially with the lower handicappers in Division 1, where our winner was John Purdy with 39 points, closely followed by Stuart Mackie and Masher himself, Paul Curtin with 38 and 37 respectively.
Division 2 was a close competition with the top three being separated by only two points. The honours went to Chris Walker playing to par on 36 points. Chalky White pushed Chris all the way on 35, as did Anthony Critchfield on 34.
The Saturday Roll Up is becoming popular with Course Manager Alex Taylor enjoying his well-earned free time and being Champion of the day with an amazing 42 points. He was closely followed by Tom Mitchell with his 41, leaving Paul Clode to be satisfied with 39 and third place.
