Honiton Swimming Club kicked off their competitive season in style as a 14 strong team travelled to Plymouth for the Exeter Sprint Meet, writes Tom Bornet.
Personal bests tumbled throughout the day with brilliant swims from younger swimmers and older swimmers alike. Honiton picked up 8 medals in total, George B swam consistently well all day, picking up 4 Silver Medals in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly and the 100m Individual Medley. Club Captain Ellen B also picked up a silver in the 16 year old 50m Butterfly.
Performance of the day, however, went to Hamish M who, after picking up Bronze in the 100m Individual Medley and Silver in the 50m Breastroke, put in a brilliant performance in the 50m Freestyle to win gold and swim under 30s for the first time.
Head Coach Ralph Watson was full of pride and praise for the whole team.
