Honiton Town Under-18s, sporting a new kit sponsored by Paul Richard Motors, secured a solid 3-1 victory over Broadclyst on the opening day of the new season.
The young Hippos fell behind early but responded with a leveller from Ethan Hawes after a lovely assist by Jenson Phillips. Just four minutes later, Honiton grabbed the lead, Louis Stephen feeding Hawes for his second goal.
Honiton sealed the victory when Shay Corrick found the net early in the second half and a great start for the Hippos, with three U16 players (Adam Paramore, Alex Haggerty and Troy Jackson) all stepping up the new level.
Honiton 2nds secured their first victory of the Devon & Exeter League campaign with a 2-1 success over an experienced Morchard Bishop side. Jake Battishill and Taylor Murphy scored the goals for Honiton, who were also grateful to goalkeeper Russ Bracey for some outstanding saves.
