The new-look Honiton Town U18s, under the management of David Haggerty, made an early statement of intent with a 9-0 demolition of Clyst Valley in a pre-season friendly.
A stunning volley from George Russell started the fun for Honiton and the Hippos doubled their lead when Jenson Wells swivelled neatly to score. Louis Stephens then provided the pass for Shay Corrick to make it 3-0 at the interval.
The Hippos cranked up the tempo a few notches in the second period, surging further ahead with a neat finish from Joel Greenslade before Corrick latched on to a Miles Barron pass and rounded the ‘keeper for number five.
A thumping header from Harvey Maddock came next, followed by a second for Wells. Honiton kept up the pressure in the closing stages, as Barron headed in another super goal and the scoring was completed with Barron’s second strike of the day.
