Stuart Slater and Julian Phillips won the Honiton GC Charity Open in aid of bowel cancer by the narrowest of margins.
An impressive 48 stableford points was just enough to beat Steve and Caroline Bond in countback, while £333 was raised for the Charity on the day.
A scorching hot day for the Tuesday Mixed was reduced to 14 holes, and the winning team, with a wonderful score of 71 points, was Barbara Cummings, Joan Crook, Rob Grove and Max Pipe. Sam Olliff was then triumphant in the integrated stableford with a 39.
Honiton Seniors entertained Torquay in a friendly and, after losing the away fixture 5-1, it was an amazing response from the home team, securing a 5-1 victory of their own for an overall tie.
Trethorne GC hosted the Seniors and Nigel Garwood took the top prize with 43 points, with the winning hidden team comprising Neil Price, Peter Blake, Rob Grove and Neil Moorcraft.
