Honiton Swimming Club’s George Bornet headed to Millfield as the lone representative at the Superfast 5 Sprint Gala.
Points were awarded across five races with all competitors swimming five events and the highest points scorer across the day in each age group being declared the overall winner.
George had a fantastic start in the morning, winning both the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke in new personal best times to lead heading into the afternoon session. He continued his good form with another two PBs and two second place finishes in the 100m Individual Medley and 50m Breaststroke.
He was level on points heading into the final race, the 50m Butterfly. Swimming in the heat after his rival from Taunton Deane, George swam brilliantly again with a 5th Personal best, giving him the overall victory by just one point. He then capped off a brilliant day in the pool by winning the elimination race.
