Honiton Town will take on local rivals Axminster Town on a historic night for the club, as the Hippos play their first game under the new floodlights at Mountbatten Park.
The game takes place on Wednesday, March 1, with a 7.30pm kick-off. The bar will be open and it would be fantastic to see a big crowd for his historic occasion.
Honiton Town Chairman Roger Doble said: “This game is the culmination of a dream for the club that started around 15 years ago when it first applied for planning for the floodlights.
“I am delighted we have managed to achieve that dream through determination, blood, sweat and tears, as well as quite a number of sleepless nights! We have all pulled together to overcome the countless obstacles.
“There are so many people to thank, but a special mention should go to Alan MacKay, who dealt with all the different applications, funding, lease negotiations and countless other pieces of admin that need to be done to get a project like this over the line.”
As well as the new floodlights, Mountbatten Park has the 50-seater stand, ticket office and new pathways, with loads planned in the near future.
