Three Axe Valley Pedallers completed the brutal 112km slog over Dartmoor, which included over 8000ft of climbing, all on a wet and windy day.
Clive Heard, Jimmy Richards and Richard Salisbury all defeated the Dartmoor Devil Audax, with steep hills, rough lanes covered in mud, gravel and debris, and descents which were both exhilarating and dangerous.
Two feed stops were included and much needed to get them through their ordeal, but the sense of achievement made it all worthwhile. The course included the renowned Pepperdown Hill, which defeated many riders who resorted to walking, but Clive managed to avoid putting a foot down.
From one epic ride to another, as Graham Jones, having got a lift to Clevedon with his bike, rode back to Seaton the next day, a 74-mile solo ride on another windy rainy day, the rain so heavy at one point he had to take shelter under a railway bridge. Well done to all.
