Autumn, for cyclists, means strong winds, rain and the hedge cutting that can bring an increase in punctures.
Despite the seasonal challenges, Axe Valley Pedaller Graham Newton demonstrated his alternative skills by achieving an excellent fourth place in his age category in the Cotswold Classic Duathlon, a 5k run followed by a 22k bike ride, a great result again.
Clive Heard has ridden his third Cyclo Cross South West series event at Torbay Velopark, featuring a beefed-up course to include steps, high banks and a 40-metre sandpit, thankfully very little mud, so he was able to head home before the rain.
A band of AVP club members heading out early to get to the New Forest to take part in the always popular Gridiron 100k challenge ride, meeting the usual hazards of ponies, pigs, cows and Highland cattle, as well as crossing the many cattle grids, a great day out in good weather.
