Honiton Bowling Club came up just short in the final of the Ladies Devon County Inter-Club at Bitton Park, Teignmouth.
They were ahead by four shots after Di Morley's rink finished, but Crediton were holding five shots with Sue Evans to send her last bowl and needing to move the jack a few inches to save the day.
But it was not to be, failing by just millimetres as Crediton claimed victory by a 37-36 margin.
Morley's rink of Berry Maynard, Tracy Lambert and Ann Dredge won 19-16, while Evans, Yvonne WIlliams, Carol Binmore and Yvonne Rayner went down 21-17.
