Axe Valley Pedallers Frank Head and brother Norman took part in a charity event, the "Poppy Ride" --140kms organised by the British Legion as part of their Centenary celebrations, and they raised between them over £1000 for the British Legion Specialist Recovery Facility for injured service personnel.
Top performer Richard Gorst was at it again at a Southern XC MTB race at Basingstoke, again finishing in a very good 8th place in a high-class field, despite crashing and finishing with a split knee.
His next MTB event will be the SW Championships near Exeter.
The Summer evening 10-mile time trials at Fenny Bridges, open to all, started on May 19 and AVP had three entrants for this first event.
John Hodgetts with a time of 27'21" came in 17th, Clive Heard in 29'08" was 22nd and Richard Gorst with 24'38" in 5th - all great performances for the early season.
