Jonathan Gorst has just completed, at the age of 73 and recovering from heart bypass surgery.
The very demanding cycle ride of 109 kilometres, known as the Dartmoor Classic Medio Sportive, in support of the Exeter Leukemia Fund, an amazing charity that has raised considerable funds for those families who are affected by blood cancer or a blood disorder by providing compassionate tailored support both at home and in hospital.
His son Richard, who regularly represents Axe Valley Pedallers, gave up his weekend of racing to support his father in nailing the nearly 6,000ft of climbing with gradients as high as 20% in in 7 hours and gaining him a bronze medal.
Jonathan was riding this event in memory of his late sister Anne Louise Pike, who received great support from the charity. Please, please donate via the following link, it would mean so much to him.
