An intrepid breakaway group of four Wibbler stalwarts, Perisher, Poddy, Whisky and Handbag took themselves off to a starting point at Cheddar Reservoir for a 41-mile jaunt.
The Axe Valley Pedallers took in Brean Down, Weston Super Mare, Sand Bay (somewhat of a misnomer, not a grain in sight) with a picnic at Weston and a detour to explore part of the Strawberry Line.
The semi derelict Birnbeck Pier, which was built in 1867 and burnt badly in 1897, was a sobering sight, and has not been used now since 1994.
However, it is classed as a Grade two building and is on the "Buildings at risk" list awaiting someone with imagination and a lot of money to put right again!
Time Trials on Wednesday only contested by three club members ended with Clive Heard 26'65", Rex Stidwell 27'22" and Jimmy Richards 24'42", with just Rex improving slightly on his previous best.
