Axe Valley Pedallers have been out and about despite the inclement weather with many leisure rides, kicking off with Jimmy Richards taking on the Exeter Wheelers Margaret Baker Memorial time trial, a 17-mile route from Clyst St. George up through Woodbury Common into a bitterly cold wind, and back down again.
Jimmy finished with a very creditable time of just over 44 minutes placing him in the top ten, which was made all the harder because of a loose saddle, not discovered until after he had started, but no serious injury was reported.
Clive Heard went on a fast mini tour of the Blackdown Hills with Neil, Bobble and Gaz, completing a 50-mile route with no stops and Bobble managed the whole outing with no water bottle, raising thoughts that he is somewhere along the line related to a camel. At last, the weather for the coming week is looking friendlier.
