HONITON'S Royal British Legion (RBL) invites the community to attend this year’s Remembrance Parade and Service on Sunday, November 10, to honour those who have served our nation.
The parade will begin its progression from outside Wetherspoons on New Street at 2.30pm and will be followed by a solemn service outside St. Paul’s Church.
The Honiton community, including local Veterans, Service personnel, Youth Organizations, and residents, are all encouraged to join in the tribute.
Chairman of the RBL Honiton branch, Mr. Nick Wadey, expressed the importance of gathering as a community to remember the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces, he said: “Remembrance Day is a vital time to pause, reflect, and honour those who have given everything for the freedoms we hold dear. It is the RBL's duty to keep their memories alive, and the Parade and Service offer a chance for all generations to come together and show their respect."
The service outside St. Paul’s will include the traditional two-minute silence, wreath-laying, and readings, giving attendees a chance to reflect on the enduring sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces across all conflicts.
Local Veterans, Emergency Services and Youth Organizations will also participate in the service, and the Honiton Band will provide music, adding to the day’s overall atmosphere.
Chairman Nick added: "It’s heartening to see our community, especially the younger generations, join us every year. This event not only commemorates those who have fallen but also supports those who continue to serve. It's a time to remember the lessons of the past, recognize the service of today, and reinforce our commitment to a peaceful future.”
Honiton RBL branch hopes to see a strong turnout to honour the memory of those who serve and have served, and to remind future generations of the importance of Remembrance day.
