A band described as "one of the most entertaining" is set to perform in Lyme Regis.

Back to the Shack are set to perform at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on November 24, bringing their "distinct style" to the stage.

The band play a fusion of blues and classic Americana, with Julian Phillips on vocals and accordion, Izi Onslow on vocals and percussion, and Axel Keim on guitar and harmonica.

Julian Phillips, who taught himself to play boogie woogie at the age of 14 by listening to artists such as Jimmy Yancey and Leroy Carr, is known for his accordion playing.

He has played in concerts and festivals in Europe and America over the years.

Izi Onslow is a classically trained singer who has been performing boogie and blues for many years.

She has played alongside top musicians on the international blues scene including Big John Carter and Carl ‘Sonny’ Leyland.

Meanwhile, Axel Keim spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Germany in the early seventies, where he started performing in blues venues.

He travelled to the UK in the late seventies, where he began to play more seriously and has stayed since.

The band perform a variety of songs, from traditional old-style instrumental classics through to haunting melodic blues ballads.

Gordon Haskell said: "Great sound, great feel, authentic, real.

"Reminded me of the early Sun Studio sessions.

"Terrific!"
