A special event is being held at Exeter Guildhall to commemorate the lives of the 307 Squadron based at Exeter Airport during World War 2.
The event Night Fighters - The Story of 307 Squadron' takes place on November 14 and 15 from 10am to 4pm with a public event and flag-raising ceremony.
307 Sqaudron was a group of Polish night-fighter squadron was part of the RAF, who defended the South West of England during WW2 and prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.
The event includes: The story of the Polish 307 Squadron, The History of RAF Exeter where 307 Squadron were based from 1941-1943 and The Polish D-Day Story: 80th anniversary
This free event in both English and Polish, will take place at the
Exeter Guildhall.
On Friday November 15, ‘307 Squadron Day’, at 10am the Polish flag
will be raised over the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor of Exeter.
‘Night Fighters - The Story of 307 Squadron’ has been organised by 307
Squadron Project, with support from Exeter City Council.
307 Squadron Project is a British-Polish registered charity established
to promote the role and carry out further research on the squadron that
were known as the ‘Lwow Eagle Owls’. The project also promotes
cooperation between our nations.
