HONITON carnival is back this weekend and promises a night “packed full of fun”.
This year's carnival procession takes place this Saturday, (October 26), starting at Ottery Moor Lane at 7.30pm.
The procession will be preceded by trucks from the Devon Truck Show. The carnival procession will then be led by the Devon Fire and Rescue vehicles, followed by the Barnstaple Town Youth Marching Band, the Mayoral party and Honiton Carnival Royalty.
The Honiton Twirlstars majorettes will also be starring in the walking procession at their home carnival.
There are currently around 20 entries involved, including some well-known names from the Devon and Somerset Carnival circuits so keep an eye out.
There will be plenty of collecting buckets along the route, which will continue up to the top of the High Street as far as Pottery Close.
A percentage of the money collected will be given back to the groups and charities who are collecting.
Despite the increased costs and additional regulations that have been imposed on local events such as carnivals, the small committee who organise Honiton Carnival are as "enthusiastic as ever" to bring this night of free entertainment to the town which has been a well-loved tradition for so many years.
A spokesperson for Honiton Carnival Committee said: “We would ask that the crowd show their appreciation of the months of work that goes into the making of all the carnival entries taking part.”
“We hope that everyone enjoys this year's carnival, and we also look forward to seeing you all again at The Christmas 'just for fun' Carnival which takes place on Saturday, December 14 starting at 5.30pm.”
