A pre-school has raised over £14,000 to build a new playground.

Puffins Pre-School in Beer, near Seaton, has replaced its old playground, which had become very worn and needed to be replaced for health and safety reasons.

The committee realised they would need to fundraise over £14,000 to cover the cost of replacing the playground.

Over the past year, the committee organised a range of fundraisers, including a Christmas and summer fayre, and events during Beer Regatta Week.

The money raised, along with several generous donations from local individuals, allowed the pre-school to reach the £14,000 target in under a year.

Beth Comber, the manager at Puffins Pre-School, said: "I would like to thank our incredible committee members at Puffins who have worked so hard to organise these fundraising opportunities for us.

"The children are really enjoying their new playground.

"I would also like to thank all our wonderful sponsors Beer Regatta, Beer Pumpkin Show, Beer Bags, bags2school, Seaton Tesco, Seaton Lions, Beer Head Caravan Park, Beer Music4Life, Beer Buffs and community donations.

"Without the support from all these organisations, we wouldn’t have been able to complete this project so quickly.

"Seaton Bradfords were able to make a very generous donation of a wooden storage shed to complete the playground and Simon Wellington also donated some money from the sale of his paintings to provide us with extra outdoor storage for our toys."

The new playground was installed over the summer by Rhino Play.
