ON Friday, October 11, Honiton Young Farmers Club held its end-of-year harvest supper at Broadhembury Village Hall, where it celebrated its members' achievements and the money raised for charity over the year.
At the beginning of each year the club members choose a charity to support, however, this year they decided to select two charities.
Honiton YFC have spent a lot of time raising money throughout the year in various ways, raising a total of £12,000 which has been split equally between Devon Air Ambulance and Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The club consists of over 60 members, ranging in age from 12 to 28, and is kept busy throughout the year with competitions, socials, and sports.
The club have put on various different events from big breakfasts and comedy nights to taking part in “Movember”, with each fundraiser solely led by the club members and their team of advisory members and club leaders.
During the evening they had a guest speaker from Devon Air Ambulance, one of their two charities for the year - who delivered an interesting speech about the charity and how much they rely on fundraising to continue to be the first response in critical situations.
The club members had the pleasure of presenting the cheque of £6,000 to Simon at the end of the evening.
A spokesperson for the event said: "We would like to thank friends and family who helped to raise the money for both charities and supporting us throughout the year."
