Axminster Town Cricket Club celebrated its end-of-season success with an awards ceremony honouring its thriving players and dedicated supporters.
The event took place at Cloakham Lawn Sports Centre on Sunday, October 6.
Andrew Moulding, the club's figurehead, began the proceedings with a heartfelt speech commemorating the 60-year journey of the late David Pike, a cherished player, umpire, and treasurer of the club, which was followed by a minute's silence in his memory.
After a hearty two-course roast lunch, captain Owen Enticott addressed the gathering, thanking players, ground staff, tea ladies, scorers, umpires, and volunteers for their contributions to a successful summer for the first XI.
Having learned of their promotion to the G Division in early September, the team had much to celebrate.
Chairman Alfie Wraight and President Percy Downton presented the coveted trophies, which included the Batting Cup to Danny Larcombe, the Bowling Cup to Alfie Wraight, and the new Commercial Cup for Highest Score to Danny Larcombe.
Owen Enticott bagged the Handbury Trophy for best bowling performance, while Brad Conway won both the Cavalier Shield for League Player of the Year and Player’s Player.
Other notable awards included the Allrounder Trophy to Owen Enticott, the Neville Pritchard Fielding Trophy to Arron Conway, and the Bert Pike Cup for Most Improved Senior Player to Arron Conway.
The Dick Bird Cup for Clubman of the Year went to Dave Pike, and the Duck Trophy was awarded to Peter Kiy.
With the 2025 season in the G Division on the horizon, the team is now in hibernation until winter nets commence.
The club has expressed gratitude to its sponsors and is set to run two teams in the 2026 season, welcoming players aged 13 and over interested in hardball cricket.
