THE Wild East Devon team have been busy behind the scenes working on a schedule of autumn and winter events to inspire people of all ages to get outside and enjoy the natural world all year round.
A spokesperson for Wild East Devon said: “Whether you’re an avid bird watcher, or just looking for a family outing, there is something for everyone in this season’s schedule.”
Five things to do at Wild East Devon this festive season are:
1. The Autumn Trail
Explore the Seaton Wetlands through a self-guided trail from October 25- November 4, 10 am to 4pm daily.
Use the trail map to help Kay the jay and Cyril the squirrel find their acorns and hazelnuts hidden around the reserve.
Pick up your trail map from the Discovery Hut and enjoy exploring the Seaton Wetlands nature reserve. Once you’ve completed the trail, return to the hut to claim your nature themed prize.
£3 per trail, includes a prize (no booking required).
2. Guide in the Hide for Kids
For those interested in finding out more about the birds found at Seaton Wetlands the team have announced a series of “Guide in the Hide for Kids” events, taking place on October 29, November 9 and November 23 from 10am to 12pm.
Join an experienced birdwatcher in this island hide and see what you can spot.
£2 per child (booking required).
3. Christmas Guided Walk at Seaton Wetlands
Later in the season, the fun does not stop. Get in the festive spirit with the Guided Christmas Walks at Seaton Wetlands – on November 30, December 7 and December 14.
Learn about the migratory birds which visit the site at winter, and after your walk help yourself to some Christmas treats - warm up with a mince pie and mulled-punch at the Discovery Hut.
£10 per person (booking required).
4. Wreath Making at Seaton Wetlands
For those feeling crafty, the team at Seaton Wetlands is hosting Wreath Making Workshops on December 6, where you will have the chance to create your own wreath using all-natural material.
£20 per person (booking required).
5. Spoon Carving for Beginners
For those who’d like to learn a new skill, there are two Spoon Carving Workshops planned for December 7 and January 11 at Seaton Wetlands.
During these hands-on workshops you will learn how to make your very own spoon from an axed-out blank piece of wood.
£30 per person (booking required).
