AXMINSTER held a fundraising event to "start the town clock" on Friday, September 27, in the Minster Church.
The Minster Church fundraising appeal is gradually working towards its target of £15,000 – the total amount needed to repair the town clock, which is housed in the Minster tower.
Many local people have said how much they “miss the hourly ‘gongs’ of the town clock.”

Friday’s fundraising gathering enjoyed coffee, tea and homemade cakes whilst all attendees were entertained by internationally acclaimed concert pianist Stephen Beville – who will be performing at a concert in the Minster later in the year.
Those attending, enjoyed coffee beneath the stained-glass windows and the fascinating medieval wall painting which has only recently been uncovered.
A total of £224 was raised during the morning which will go towards the appeal.
