A Brazilian instrumental quintet is set to perform in Lyme Regis.
Alvorada will be at the Marine Theatre on Sunday, September 29, at 8pm.
The award-winning ensemble will be presenting their latest album, Faz Tempo, which explores Brazilian rhythms such as choro, samba, bossa nova, and baião.
The album has been described as "a bold and rich tapestry of artfully arranged original compositions".
The group is made up of musicians from the UK and Brazil, including Rachel Hayter on flute, Andrew Woolf on clarinet and saxophone, Jeremy Shaverin on cavaquinho, Luiz Morais on a 7-string guitar, and Andres Ticino on percussion.
They have performed at festivals and venues across the UK, including the Southbank Centre and the London Jazz Festival.
Their debut album, First Light, released in 2019, was critically acclaimed and led to appearances on BBC Radio 3 and JazzFM.
Songlines magazine described the album as "a fresh, innovative album", while DJ Ritu called them "a tight-knit family of virtuosos.... One of the most exciting bands in London".
Jazz FM said: "They breathe a new life into Brazil's popular lilting choro style... adding a distinctive, contemporary edge."
