Honiton Community Spaces (CUB) building needs community support to Raise £19,500 for essential insulation and cladding Repairs

The Honiton CUB needs to raise £19,500 to spend on essential insulation and cladding to protect, preserve and help heat the facility.

The Honiton CUB is a vital resource for local groups and residents, In 2014, funding cuts closed Honiton Youth Club and Youth Centre. Honiton Community College stepped in, renaming it the Community Use Building (CUB).

A group later proposed a plan to save it, earning the Town Council support. By 2020, the CUB became a charity and is now entirely run by volunteers.

Donations can be made through www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/eco-friendly, and the CUB welcomes new volunteers to assist with various activities.

The Community Use Building (CUB) is home to various community groups, such as the Honiton Parent, Toddler & Baby Group, Honiton Youth Club, and The Honiton 7 to 9 Club, which are all led by volunteers.

Clare Jones the manager of the CUB building said: "Despite significant renovations to the building's interior, the exterior rendering is deteriorating, exposing the structure to the elements. An energy consultant has advised that insulation and cladding would not only improve energy efficiency but also reduce future maintenance costs. The total cost for these essential improvements is £19,500.

“We are hoping the community will come together and support us in securing the donations necessary to maintain this community-run building as an integral part of the Honiton community.”
