Students and staff from Honiton Community College have been celebrating GCSE results day, (August 22).
More than 20% of all English and Maths grades were 7, 8 or 9; another increase in the percentage of students being awarded a strong pass in both English and Maths, building on improvements last year.
Honiton Community College (HCC) says they pride themselves in creating a 'caring and supportive' environment in which all students can achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
As well as a balanced curriculum with a focus on academic excellence, they also offer a broad range of extra-curricular activities – music, drama, sport, outdoor education and many more.
There was much cause for celebration at HCC today: “I am really pleased, particularly with my Maths and Sports results. I can study A Level Biology, English Language and Sports Science as planned, and I’m really looking forward to it.” Ben Matthews
“I passed everything! I had a conditional offer for Bicton College and can now do my chosen Level 3 course and go straight to Uni from there. I am so happy and relieved!” Ruby White
“I’ve got exactly what I wanted and I’m so proud! It’s been a combination of the right teachers, resources and hard work. A Level Physics, Chemistry and Maths is next for me.”
David Rostill: “I am so happy! I got a 9 in Biology and I met all my requirements to get into College. I’m very very happy.” Kritan Kharel
“In every single subject, I achieved higher than I was expecting, including three 8s! I worked really hard and did loads of revision. I’m heading to Exeter College to study Computer Software Development.” Gracie Marks
Alex Kirkbride, head at Honiton Community College said: "It has been so special celebrating with our Year 11 students and their families this morning. The grades our students have earned today are a reflection of their commitment, determination, and the countless hours they have dedicated to their studies. This is a significant milestone, and it has been a privilege to watch them celebrate these outstanding results! Congratulations to all"
Moira Marder, CEO Ted Wragg Trust said: “Many congratulations to all the students across East Devon who have collected their GCSE results today. It’s been another successful year and these results will allow them to take their chosen next step in life. It’s such a privilege to provide ongoing education to the young people of Devon and I hope this Year 11 cohort has a wonderful time celebrating their well earned success today.”
