A 29-year-old man has appeared at Exeter Crown Court accused of attempting to murder a man who suffered serious injuries in an attack in Exeter.
Ryan Gillard was not asked to enter pleas to four charges when he appeared before Judge James Adkin by video link from Exeter prison and was remanded in custody pending a further hearing in two weeks.
Gillard, formerly of St Paul’s Road, Honiton, and Turner Rise, Tiverton, is accused of attempting to murder Peter Hewitt on December 14, 2023 and the theft of clothing and toiletries from him on the same date.
He is also alleged to have threatened him with a knife on December 7, 2023, and of stalking him between December 6 and 15 and putting him in fear of violence, including the threats with the knife, sending threatening texts, and seriously assaulting him on December 14.
Judge Adkin adjourned the case for two weeks to allow more time for Gillard to have a conference with his lawyers.
