The Uplyme and Lyme Regis Horticultural Society Summer Flower and Produce Show invites the public to submit their entries for the annual event.

The closing date for entries, which can be emailed to ulrhs.entries@gmail.com or handed in at Uplyme Stores, is 8pm on July 31.

The show will take place at Uplyme Village Hall on August 3.

Over 120 categories are available for entrants to compete in, including flowers, fruits and vegetables, home produce, cookery, and fun classes.

As we previously reported, the theme for this year's show is herbs, as they feature in numerous categories.

Entry to the classes is free and open to members and non-members.

On the day of the competition, entries must be brought to the marquee at King George V Playing Field between 8am and 10am.

The show will be on from 2pm to 5pm.

Alongside the show marquee, there will also be cream teas and refreshments, plus a collection of stalls concentrating on gardening, horticulture, nature, and the local environment.

It costs only £1 for all adults to enter, and children under 16 can enter for free if accompanied.

Gardening experts Mary Benger from Burrow Farm Gardens and Ben Clutton from Groves Nursery will be present throughout the afternoon to offer advice to visitors at their Gardening Advice stall by the show marquee.

They will also deliver demonstrations and talks on herbs, willow weaving, dahlia growing, driftwood sculptures, woodworking, and yarn spinning.

The event includes activities for children such as a sensory trail, an opportunity to learn about alpacas, and a chance for families to participate in croquet, a traditional sport that’s great fun for all ages.

Running concurrently with the show, Uplyme Church will stage a flower festival themed on herbs from August 1 to August 3.

The programme and schedule for the Summer Flower and Produce Show are accessible for free from Uplyme Post Office and Ginger Beer in Lyme Regis.
