One person has been taken to hospital 'as a precaution' after a single-vehicle collision on the A30 near Ottery St Mary this morning (June 12).
Emergency services were called to the A30 between Daisymount Cross and Exeter Airport at around 10am on Wednesday following reports of a single-car crash.
The car crashed into the central reservation, lane one is now open but lane two is expected to be closed for the 'rest of the day' as Highways South West carries out recovery work and barrier repairs.
Police told drivers to 'avoid the area' as emergency services dealt with the incident. The road was partially re-opened at around midday.
The driver is not thought to have sustained any injuries but has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 09:46hrs on Wednesday 12 June to a road traffic collision near Ottery St Mary. We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, a hazardous area response team and a critical care car to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to hospital.”
A spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the A30 at Daisymount, near Ottery St Mary, at around 9.50am today, Wednesday 12 June.
"Emergency services are at the scene. The driver is not thought to have sustained any injuries but has been taken to hospital as a precaution."
"The car has been recovered from the scene. Lane two closures in both directions will remain in place for the rest of the day. Lane one is now open in both directions."
