The Lyme Regis Town Band has a lot of events planned as we head into the summer months.
They are a community band based in Lyme Regis, with 20+ regular brass players who all come along voluntarily each week to improve their playing and prepare for concerts.
The band plays for free every Tuesday night throughout July & August to anyone who wishes to listen, on the promenade in Lyme Regis.
Some evenings they attract an audience of over 200 people who sing, dance and shake percussion instruments along with the band.
This year, they are putting on a 1940s-themed concert in Lyme Regis to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings on 2nd July.
Tickets are just £5 to make it accessible to as many as possible and we are asking people to come dressed in era-appropriate costumes and sing along.
We want to get the message about our concerts out to the wider public so that the whole community can enjoy our music and really appreciate the diversity of brass bands!
The group was started in 1981, following a donation from the council, with money given from "The French Lieutenant's Daughter" film.
