Active Devon has announced the return of their Volunteer Awards for the third year in a row.
Launched on June 3, the awards serve to acknowledge unpaid volunteers across Devon who provide assistance and support for people in their communities to be more physically active.
Active Devon is currently welcoming nominations for either individuals or teams.
With a special tribute for those ardent younger members of the community, two award categories have been specifically designated for young volunteers aged 14-17 and 18-25.
For the 2024 iteration, there will be seven award categories.
These include: Outstanding Young Volunteer of the Year (14-17 years) and (18-25 years), Volunteering Team of the Year, North Devon District and Torridge, East Devon District, Mid Devon District and Exeter, West Devon District and Plymouth, and South Hams District, Teignbridge and Torbay.
A final Outstanding Contribution to Inclusion category will be judged from the complete range of entries received.
Tamsin Phelvin from Active Devon said: "We are absolutely delighted to bring back our Volunteer Awards for 2024.
"Building on the huge success of previous years, we are hoping for even more nominations this year, showcasing the hard work of all those deserved volunteers across Devon."
The award's primary aim is to celebrate and recognise all those people within Devon who, through their dedication to volunteering, offer opportunities for local communities to be actively engaged.
This acknowledgement extends to the volunteer leaders, coaches, along with those who dedicate their time behind the scenes to support community groups, clubs and organisations.
Nominations opened on June 3 and will close at 5pm on September 8.
All nominated individuals or teams will receive a certificate, and a shortlist of nominees will be created.
The winners for each category will be picked by a panel of judges who are passionate about volunteering and physical activities.
David Vinall, a proud winner from the 2023 awards who volunteers at the Atlantic Racquet Centre in Bideford, shared: "I’m overwhelmed by receiving the award, I am blown away that people have bothered to nominate me for this award."
