Cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £300,000 has been seized near Exeter.

Police found around four and a half kilos of the Class A drug after they stopped and searched a vehicle on the A30 on Monday night (May 13).

A 73-year-old man from Buckfastleigh has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. He remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Smoothy from the Serious and Organised Crime Investigation Team said: “This was a great stop by officers who safely intercepted the transportation and distribution of multiple kilos of cocaine into Devon.

“Drugs have a detrimental impact on our communities, and we will pursue those who intended to commit crim here while supporting the vulnerable in our communities.”

“No one should put up with illegal drug activity and the associated crimes and behaviours, so I urge anyone with information to please report it.”
