New display signage made by members of the Beer Men's Shed has been installed outside Seaton Gateway Theatre.
The theatre received a grant to pay for the sign boards from East Devon District Council’s Creative East Devon Fund’ (CEDF), and also received donations from Yvonne Waite’s Chair Yoga Class, which uses the Gateway.
Manager Sophia Moseley then approached the Men's Shed to see if its members could create signs suitable for the theatre. Being close to the sea, the signs needed to be strong enough to withstand stormy weather as well as the strong summer sunshine.
With their wide-ranging skills, the Men's Shed workers designed, made and installed the sign boards on the theatre building.
Sophia said: "We are very grateful to the East Devon District Council and especially Yvonne’s class who have been incredibly supportive with all our fundraising campaigns.
"The Gateway Theatre is an important community venue, not only for a fantastic theatre programme, but the many local groups and organisations who use its facilities, and it is this level of support that shows just how important it is to everyone who comes here.’
