Canadian saxophonist Terry Quinney will pay homage to Dexter Gordon when he graces the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis.

The musician's influence stretches across the bebop era and beyond, inspiring musicians such as John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins.

His 6ft 6in stature had earned him nicknames, including Long Tall Dexter and Sophisticated Giant.

In 1986, his role as a saxophonist in Round Midnight won him an Oscar nomination.

While Mr Quinney recently established himself in the UK jazz scene, performing with Alan Barnes at the National Theatre, amongst other venues.

Additionally, he co-leads the The Sound Of Blue Note band and has performed with UK jazz icons such as Nigel Price, Ian Shaw, and Gilad Atzmon.

The Canadian will be in good company, joined by Philip Clouts on piano and Adrian Smith on double bass.

The show is scheduled to take place on April 28 at 8pm.
