The National Trust is looking for volunteers to help care for one of the earliest surviving Baptist meeting houses in Britain, Loughwood Meeting House.
The 18th century building is located near Axminster and Honiton and has remained virtually unchanged since its beginning.
It was founded in secret during a time of immense persecution toward non-conformists.
Volunteers are required to be able to open and/or close the chapel at least one morning or afternoon per week.
Other duties include taking care of the building, making a visual check, sweeping and dusting for visitors to enjoy a clean visit.
Volunteers will need to have their own transportation to and from the building.
Volunteering and Community Officer with the National Trust East Devon Countryside team, Martin Jennings-Wright, said: “Volunteering at Loughwood is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the Meeting House, make new friends, and contribute towards the care and upkeep of a special place in your community.”
A drop-in session is being held for anyone potentially interested in getting involved on Tuesday, April 16 from 11am to 12.30pm.
Loughwood is situated just off the A35 between Honiton and Axminster, with the postcode for the Meeting House being EX13 7DU.
