A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Powell Close, Seaton, on Monday (March 4).
Police were called at 9.25am to a property after receiving a report that a man had been seriously assaulted.
Local officers arrived on scene within minutes and found the victim who had suffered a significant injury.
Local officers, armed officers and a police helicopter conducted 'extensive' searches throughout the locality. The victim was conveyed to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and received treatment for their injuries. He was discharged from hospital yesterday.
Investigative enquiries took place, and officers found that the suspect had travelled across the border into Somerset. Officers from East Devon immediately deployed to Somerset and the male was promptly arrested.
Inspector Oliver Heaton said: “A scene at the address in Powell Close was established throughout the day, however our forensic enquiries have now concluded and the scene has been closed.
"There are no further persons sought in relation to this incident. Whilst this type of incident is unusual for Seaton, we would very much like to reassure the public that this was an isolated assault and there is no additional risk to the public.
“The suspect remains in Police custody at this time whilst the investigation continues.”
