Seaton Music had the pleasure of presenting The Hague String Trio at the Gateway Theatre on Thursday February 22.
Justyna Briefjes, Julia Dinnerstein and Miriam Kirby have played together since 2006, travelling throughout Europe. At Seaton, they began with a well-known and charming Haydn Divertimento.
The trio have been promoting the work of female composers through the ages and their second piece was by Dame Ethel Mary Smythe. Ethel was one of 8 children and very determined from an early age.
Tricia Barclay attended the concert, she said: "A light-hearted set of short pieces by another woman composer was then well received by the audience. Emmy Frensel Wegener, a Dutch lady born in 1901 sadly had a short working life, owing to paralysis. The concert continued with the third of Beethoven’s wonderful string trios.
"It was a delightful and whimsical way to end a lovely evening."
Seaton Music's next concert will be on March 21st. Visit their website for more information.
