IF you're planning on getting out at all today (Sunday, January 21), it's probably best to make sure you're back home by early evening.
Storm Isha is heading this way, with the whole of Devon subject to a yellow wind warning issued by the Met Office.
The warning is in place from 6pm today through to 9am tomorrow (Monday, January 22).
People are being advised that if they do need to make a journey, then it is advisable to consider delaying until the weather conditions improve.
The wind alert means:
- There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage;
- Probably some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs;
- Longer journey times and cancellations likely, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected;
- Some roads and bridges likely to close;
- Injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.
