Lyme Regis Gig Club has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise £10,000 to build a traditional wooden Cornish Pilot Gig racing boat.
The campaign aims to fund the construction of the "Ammonite", a boat being built by world-renowned instructor from Boat Building Academy, and passionate gig rower, Rob Hounslow.
The project has received enormous support from the academy, known worldwide for teaching wooden boat-building skills.
Contributions made to the campaign will guarantee the completion of the boat, promoting an enhanced, superior rowing experience for members.
Rob Hounslow said: "Every donation, regardless of its size, propels the club toward its goal.
"Sharing the campaign on social media amplifies its reach and impact."
As an initiative to foster community spirit, the club aims to enable everyone in the region to participate in the fastest-growing sport of Cornish Pilot Gig boat rowing, with members aged between 9 to 80 years currently involved.
Club members anticipate completion of the "Ammonite" in 2024.
This will allow it to join approximately 120 other boats in the intense competition at the World Pilot Gig Championships, held on the Isles of Scilly over three days in early May.
The club extends its gratitude to their supporters for their involvement and continuous contribution to the club's success.
If anyone is interested in participating in the sport or make a contribution to the fundraiser, they are encouraged to contact the Lyme Regis Gig Club via their website.
